Nobody can beat Disney when it comes to heartfelt animation films. If you grew up watching these magical movies that filled you with unlimited hopes and dreams, you’re not alone. These movies are not just for kids – they’re timeless and can be enjoyed by everyone.
Every animated movie created by Disney is a masterpiece, but some of them are simply over the top. Most of these movies are part of the best childhood memories I have, and it’s funny how these still get me excited as an adult. When I re-watch my childhood favorites from Disney, they hit differently and that’s genuinely amazing.

Zootopia
A world of talking animals may sound like a story from a children’s book, but Zootopia makes it look like something we could all get used to. The movie follows a community inhabited by a variety of mammals, living together in peace. It promotes equality in an adorable and creative manner, which is relatable to viewers of all ages.
The main characters of the movie are a rabbit, who is a righteous rookie cop, and a sly fox, who is naturally a con artist. The chemistry between these two characters is off the charts and a brilliant representation of how opposites attract.
Cinderella
There’s no other children’s story with as many adaptations as Cinderella. I’m sure you’ve seen several modern-day depictions of Cinderella – the iconic damsel in distress. The emergence of a fairy godmother and a prince charming who depends on a glass slipper to find his soulmate is enticing for some reason.
Jokes aside, I think the original animated movie is so popular because it offers a promise of a better life after constant hardships. It allows young girls to believe that a miserable life can turn around with one good opportunity and some support.
The Lion King
The Lion King is one of the most emotional and moving animated films ever made. There are at least a dozen life lessons to learn from this story, which makes it a stroke of genius. This movie teaches us about power, envy, betrayal, death, guilt, responsibility, accepting change, friendship, and love.
It follows the journey of a young cub named Simba who has to leave his homeland after losing his father. He collapses in a desert after running from a group of vicious hyenas but is rescued by a meerkat and warthog. Later, he has to embrace his true identity and take his rightful place as the king of his homeland.
Frozen
When Frozen was released by Walt Disney back in 2013, a lot of baby girls ended up being named “Elsa”. Elsa from the movie is not your average Disney princess; she’s a strong and independent ice queen, which makes her a badass. She’s not one to fall in love at first sight or depend upon a man to take away her troubles.
Elsa’s sister Anna is the naïve kind, but the two sisters together are a force to be reckoned with. Frozen is unlike the traditional Disney fairytales because it focuses on a family dynamic and shows that girls are beyond capable of saving the day.
The Little Mermaid
Mermaids are among the most cherished mystical creatures of all time, so it’s no wonder that this animated Disney classic made waves. A young mermaid with bright red hair and a talent for singing was the dream. It was fascinating that she falls in love with a human and is willing to do anything to be with him.
Every satisfying Disney movie has a perfectly evil villain, so here we had the one and only Ursula. Our beautiful and innocent mermaid agrees to trade in her voice to have human legs. Unfortunately, her supposed prince charming won’t love her without her enchanting voice. Do you notice a pattern here?
Mulan
Mulan was probably the first lady to break gender roles in the Disney universe. I still remember when this animated movie first came out – it was the most incredible thing ever. A live-action version was released in 2020, but it’s got nothing on the original.
One of the best things about the animated movie was the soundtrack – it managed to pour more emotion and impact into the story. Mulan father’s is called upon to serve in the army as he has no son. Mulan decides to take his place by taking on the disguise of a man. In the beginning, she struggles but then gradually surpasses her male comrades in every challenge.
